Muhlenbergia capillaris
Pink Muhly Grass, Pink Hair Grass, Deer Grass
An evergreen grass that forms fountain-shaped clumps. Leaf blades are slender, cylindrical, and dark green. In late summer through fall, finely-textured flowerheads form a ruby-pink cloud that rests just above the foliage. When planted in mass, flowerheads shroud the foliage in a magnificent, gauzy haze.
